SURVIVAL OF SPECIES

1. A species is a group of similar living things that can breed among themselves.

2. Cows, tigers, elephants and birds are examples of different species of animals.

3. Survival of a species is the ability of the species to survive on the Earth.

4. Living thins reproduce to ensure the survival of their species.

5. Living things have their own ways of ensuring the survival of their species.

6. Living things that are unable to ensure the survival of their species will become extinct.


Survival Of Animals

1.   Animals reproduce by giving birth of laying eggs.

2. To ensure the survival of their species, animals need to protect their eggs and their young.

3.  Animals that give birth hve different ways to protect and take care of their young.
Cats suckle their kittens.

Kangroo carry their young in their young in their pouches until their young able to take care of themselves.

Tiger stay close to their young

Monkeys live in groups

Whale stay close to their young

Scorpion carry their young on the body

Importance Of Survival

  1. Living things depend on each other for survival.
  2. If some species of living things cannot survive and become extinct, this will affect other living things that depend on them.
  3. For example, if the deer in a forest cannot survive, there will be a shortage of food for tigers that live in the same habitat.
  4. If the deer become exticvt, the tigers will also become extinct because of a shortage of food.
